Lane County Court Calendars Explained
Lane County District Court sits in Kansas's 24th Judicial District. Its public case information can include hearing dates. These appear inside the events index. That index is the running chronological list most people simply call the docket. A second tool is the Kansas Judicial Branch self-help center. Its statewide calendar shows the next seven days, according to the 2025 annual report. It also lets you filter by county or judge. Results list hearing time, case type, and the presiding judge. Those two views answer different questions. The statewide list catches hearings inside a short window. The Lane County case docket can show a case-specific setting. It can also show later entries, such as a continuance or an order. Neither view outranks a written notice or a filed order. The county publishes no daily-docket PDF, so do not count on a printable list.
Lane County's Seven-Day Court Window
The statewide calendar fits one situation. It works best when a hearing is close and the case number is not at hand. Choose Lane as the county. You can also filter by the judicial officer. Then scan the results for the right hearing time and case type. Seven days is only the horizon. A setting farther out can still exist, and it may show up in Kansas CaseSearch or in a notice held by a party. The official CaseSearch application shell displays the interface used for statewide district-court access.

The blank interface shows its point. A calendar listing and a case-specific events index should be checked together, and no private record identifier gets exposed in the process.
Finding Your Court Date
Use a layered check. Lane County court dates can come from a district case, a magistrate matter, or Dighton City Court. Start with the court named on the paperwork, and never assume every Dighton citation belongs in the district system.
- Open Kansas CaseSearch for a Lane County District Court matter and search by case number or name, with Location narrowed to Lane.
- Open the case and read the events index for the next hearing, its type, and any later continuance or setting order.
- Check the statewide self-help calendar for hearings within its next-seven-day window, using Lane or the judicial officer as a filter.
- Call the Lane County District Court Clerk at 620-397-2805, or visit the clerk counter and public terminal at 144 S. Lane in Dighton, if online views conflict or omit the setting.
- For Dighton Municipal Court, read the citation and call 620-397-5200. A party represented by counsel should also confirm with the attorney.
Mail written inquiries to Lane County District Court, P.O. Box 188, Dighton, KS 67839. Fax works too, at 620-397-5526. The office window runs weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closing from noon to 1:00 p.m.
Dighton Uses a Separate Court Calendar
Dighton Municipal Court appears as City Court on the official city page. It convenes at City Hall. Sessions fall on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. That recurring schedule is not confirmation of an individual setting. The city publishes no municipal docket search. There is no citation lookup, fine schedule, or case-specific calendar feed. Your citation and the municipal court information line control.
Dighton City Hall sits at 147 E. Long Street, and the general number is 620-397-5541. Do not rely on CaseSearch alone. A city ordinance or municipal traffic case will not always appear there. After a municipal appeal, the matter can reach Lane County District Court. A new district-court number and setting route apply there. Separately, the official Census table for Kansas census-designated places identifies Healy as a CDP rather than an incorporated city.

That classification is why no Healy municipal-court calendar exists to consult. The Kansas Historical Society Lane County profile supplies the county-seat context.

County history names Dighton the seat while keeping City Court on its own calendar, apart from the district schedule.
How to Read a Court Setting
A Lane County court calendar line is a compact pointer, not the full file. Check each field against the case events index and the latest notice. No Lane courtroom number appears in the listing, so call the clerk when the location field is blank or unclear.
| Date | The scheduled day; check for a later continuance or written order. |
|---|---|
| Time | The published hearing time, which may differ from a broader docket call. |
| Courtroom | The room or venue when published; no Lane-specific room number was documented. |
| Judge | The presiding district judge or district magistrate judge. |
| Setting Type | Motion Day, arraignment, pretrial, trial, or another hearing label. |
| Case Type | The category that distinguishes criminal, civil, traffic, or other matters. |
Lane County Motion Day Settings
Under the 24th Judicial District rules, Motion Day is one thing. A special setting is another. Motions that need a hearing generally require notice and proof of service. Counsel or self-represented parties arrange non-summary dates with the district judge's administrative assistant or the magistrate judge. A filed motion alone proves no hearing date. Felony jury-trial dates are normally set at felony arraignment under Rule 501. Rule 502 sends misdemeanor jury requests to the next Motion Day with the chief judge. Appeals from municipal or magistrate convictions go there too. Attorneys can get the next date and time themselves. The source is the district clerk or the chief judge's administrative assistant. A Motion Day appearance is not automatically the final trial.
Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations
Want a Lane County hearing moved? A phone call will not do it. Local Rule 302 demands a written request plus an order. A narrow emergency exception exists, and it still ends in a written order. Under Rule 303, the party asking for the change carries the load. Get a fresh date from the district judge's administrative assistant or magistrate. Then line it up with every party and counsel. Rule 304 adds that attorneys must tell their clients and any subpoenaed witnesses. Meanwhile, a calendar item can shift. An old screen, saved page, or personal note may keep showing the earlier date. Trust the newest docket entry instead. When timing matters, find the written order if it is public and call 620-397-2805. Keep in mind that a missing listing does not mean the hearing was cancelled.
Lane County Interpreter Date Planning
Anyone needing an interpreter should raise it well before hearing day. Rule 305 of the 24th Judicial District requires a written interpreter request at least five business days ahead of the hearing or trial. The request must state the case caption, the hearing date and time, and the type of interpretation needed.
Plan from the confirmed setting. Count the lead time from the actual hearing date, submit the required written details, and verify receipt with the court handling the case.
If a setting changes, check whether the court wants a new request or an updated notice. The calendar can point you to the date, but the court's own procedure governs the accommodation.
If You Miss a Court Setting
Missed a Lane County court date? Act fast. Look through the case events index for anything the court entered, reach the Lane County District Court Clerk, and talk with your attorney if you have one. For a Dighton municipal matter, call City Court directly rather than assuming the district clerk handles the citation.
Missed setting: A nonappearance can lead to further court action, including a bench-warrant event or other consequences allowed in the case.
Call the correct clerk or court at once and ask how to confirm the current status and lawful next step.
Legal advice about a missed Lane County court date should come from a licensed attorney.
Lane County Calendar Access After 2025
Kansas reshuffled several access points in 2025. Judicial Branch websites now sit on the .gov domain. CaseSearch took the place of the old Kansas District Court Public Access Portal. The self-help center offers a statewide seven-day hearing calendar. Plenty of older guides and local pages still carry legacy portal names. Start with the current state domain, then confirm the Lane County setting through the clerk.
Rule 22 has been in revised form since March 24, 2025. It clarified how portal and courthouse-terminal access work. Public case information may be online. An events index may be online too. Some converted public documents stay terminal-only, though. Nonpublic material is off limits either way. For name and number search mechanics, see the Lane County case lookup.
